Alberta Services - Historical Resources Overview:
- is conducted to assess the necessity of a permitted archaeological assessment (HRIA).
- consists of a thorough review of all available maps and construction plans providing topographic features, forest cover, and waterways data.
- includes a site file search of previously recorded archaeological sites, within a proposed development area, using the Alberta Archaeological Site Inventory.
- includes the submission of an Historical Resources Overview Form to Alberta Culture and Community Spirit, Historic Resources Management Branch.
- Historical Resources Overview Reporting: includes a development description (location, size, construction details), existing surface disturbances, previous archaeological work conducted in the development area, previously recorded archaeological sites in proximity to the development, Palaeontological Sensitivity, HRV Reference and Sensitivity, an evaluation of the proposed development and recommendations.
