British Columbia Services - Archaeological Assessment Information Form (AAIF):
- is submitted to the Oil and Gas Commission with provincially regulated oil and gas industry applications
- requires a thorough review of all available development plans, topographic maps, orthophotography and previous assessments in the development area
- determines the locations of previously recorded archaeological sites within 5000m of the development using the BC Heritage Resource Inventory Application (HRIA) and the BC Remote Access to Archaeological Data (RAAD)
- utilizes all available "tools" including the Millennia Northeast British Columbia Archaeological Potential Model in considering the archaeological potential of a development area
- determines the archaeological potential of the proposed development and recommends either "No further work required", or "Further work required". If further work is required, the archaeologist will detail the required work. Archaeological fieldwork conducted requires the completion of an Archaeological Impact Assessment (AIA) report to fulfill Section 14 permit requirements under the BC Heritage Conservation Act.
- AAIF Reporting: requires the signatures of both the client (or client’s representative) and the archaeologist prior to submission to the Oil and Gas Commission.
